Anti-seize compounds for assembly work

Anti-seize compound is an assembly paste that stops threads, pins and flanges from seizing. The paste fills the roughness of the thread flank with solid lubricant particles, so metal does not rub directly on metal. You notice the result only at disassembly: a joint put together this way still comes apart after months of heat, damp and vibration, without the bolt shearing or the thread coming with it.

The choice depends on the environment and on the materials. On stainless steel galling is the biggest risk, because the oxide layer welds to the mating side under pressure. Where the bolt sits against another metal the composition matters, since copper-based and copper-free products behave differently towards corrosion. Look at the temperature range the manufacturer states, and at whether the paste affects the tightening torque, because a lubricated thread reaches a higher preload at the same torque figure.

Packaging follows the work. A 20 g stick goes in the tool case, a 400 ml aerosol covers a large area quickly, and a 453 g bottle or a 907 g tin is meant for the bench. More mounting products sit one level up.
